Jun 21, 2019Propecia, also known by its generic name finasteride, is a medication that is used to treat hair loss in men. It works by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone responsible for hair follicles, leading to thinning and eventual baldness.
Propecia is a medication that is prescribed for men who are experiencing hair loss. It contains the active ingredient finasteride, which works by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to DHT. By blocking this conversion, Propecia prevents the growth of hair follicles and helps maintain the hair follicles’ hair growth. This makes it an effective treatment option for male pattern baldness.
Both Propecia and Finasteride are prescription medications that have been clinically proven to be effective in treating male pattern baldness.
One of the key differences between Propecia and Finasteride is their potential for treating different types of hair loss. Propecia, a prescription medication, has been specifically developed to treat male pattern baldness, and it is available over the counter (OTC) without a prescription.
In general, men taking Propecia are more likely to experience hair regrowth and reduced hair loss as a result of the medication. However, it is important to note that the effectiveness of Propecia for male pattern baldness may be slightly lower compared to Finasteride.
Propecia is an oral medication that contains the active ingredient finasteride. The active ingredient in Propecia is finasteride, which is converted into DHT in the body by the enzyme 5-alpha reductase. This process is known as 5-alpha reductive conversion and results in the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is responsible for hair loss.
The primary mechanism of action for Propecia is to inhibit the enzyme 5-alpha reductase. This enzyme is responsible for converting testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body. DHT is known to be a significant cause of male pattern baldness and may contribute to hair loss by shrinking hair follicles.
By blocking the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, Propecia reduces the amount of DHT that is produced by the body and thus reduces the amount of DHT that can accumulate in the scalp. Additionally, Propecia can also help to reverse the effects of DHT by reducing the levels of DHT in the blood.

This enzyme is responsible for converting testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that is responsible for hair loss.
The mechanism of action of Propecia is similar to that of Finasteride. The medication inhibits the action of 5-alpha reductase, which is responsible for converting testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body. By reducing the levels of DHT in the blood, Propecia can prevent the growth of hair follicles and improve hair growth.
Finasteride (Propecia) is an effective and widely used prescription drug used to treat male pattern baldness. It is also prescribed for other conditions such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), hair loss, and other conditions such as enlarged prostate (also known as BPH), and may also be used to treat male pattern baldness.
Finasteride (Propecia) is not suitable for everyone. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not handle crushed or broken tablets. Finasteride can interact with other medications and cause serious side effects.
Finasteride works by blocking the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is responsible for causing hair loss, prostate enlargement, and male-pattern baldness.
The increased conversion of testosterone into DHT causes the prostate to enlarge. As a result, hair loss in the male body and the development of male-pattern baldness can occur. DHT can slow down or even stop hair growth.

I’m a newbie now to Propecia and I’m on the fence as to what to do. My first question is, are there any good things about Propecia? I’m curious to hear what happens when a doctor prescribes it. Any advice?
Hi everyone,
I had Propecia for about 6 years and I was just taking a pill every day. The side effects were very bad but at the time I was on Proscar. I did have some side effects but they were nothing like what I experienced. If anyone has any experience, I’d be happy to share them.
I had a prescription for Proscar about two years ago and my doc prescribed it to me. It is now being prescribed to me by a doctor but I’m still not sure if I should be taking it.
Well the thing is, my doctor prescribed me the lowest dose of the drug so I was surprised that I never got the results that I had hoped. I’ve been taking it for about 3 weeks now and I’m really worried about this. The side effects are the same as the other meds and they just don’t go away. I’d be concerned if there were any other side effects or the side effects are not related to the drug. I’d also be concerned if my hair got a bit thickened but I don’t know if it’s because of the meds or not.
Hi all,
Thanks for the info. I did see an online doctor who said he prescribed Proscar because it was too expensive. I was going to ask about it but she said she could give me some advice. She recommended some other drug that would make the Proscar cheaper.
I was thinking of taking Propecia for the first time and have been really worried. I’ve been taking Proscar for about 2 years now and it is the only finasteride. I have been taking it for a year now and I’m really worried. My hair looks fine in the front and I can’t feel my temples, but it’s thick.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks again,
I’m on Propecia for the first time but am wondering if anyone has experience or experience with it. I haven’t had results in the past but it is something I can’t say for sure.
Hi there,
I’m on Propecia for the first time and have been using Propecia for years. It has been my experience with Propecia. I’ve never had bad side effects when using the drug. I have had results from the first two years and I think they are quite similar to those with finasteride.
Thanks for your advice and I will definitely ask someone if Propecia is right for me.
P. S. I think the best advice for you is to consult with a doctor before using Propecia, especially since there is a chance that your hair may be thinning and you may need to stop taking it.
The thing is, if it is a very expensive drug that you need to be aware of, then you need to avoid using it if possible. The cost of Propecia can be quite high but it is not a very cheap drug and many people who are not very successful in their jobs don’t want to pay the full price. It is a big risk of losing their hair because of the drug. It’s not worth the extra money to have to take it.
Thanks for all the responses. I will check it out. I did have a look at Propecia on my website and it was a good one.
